James Gardner is an Associate Professor of Photoelectrochemistry in the Department of Chemistry at KTH. He has been the Head of the Division of Applied Physical Chemistry with the department since 2018. That same year he became the Deputy Head of the Center for Molecular Devices, a joint research collaboration between KTH and Uppsala University on emerging solar cell technologies. James has published >50 articles in peer reviewed journals and has extensive experience supervising PhD students and post-docs. Vetenskapsrådet, Formas, Energimyndigheten, Olle Engqvist, and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation have supported research in the Gardner group. Research projects have focused heavily on synthesis, characterization, and testing of new solar cell materials. Recent work has included recycling of battery components and materials for light emitting diodes. James has expertise on the structural, optical, and electronic characterization of materials.
