Sweet project together with Stockholm Material hub organized in the beginning of the summer a workshop “Advance in Materials and Catalysis for a Sustainable Future”. It was organized on-site in KTH premises and the first speaker was Prof. Yury Gogotsi, one of the most cited material scientists in the word. Prof. Gogotsi is also the WISE guest professor in Sweden. He has made principal contributions to the development of MXene-based materials for electrochemical capacitors and energy storage devices; he has demonstrated the tuning of structure and porosity of carbide-derived materials among many. In this workshop, he gave an overview of Mxenes and their advantages and possibilities for a sustainable future. The following speaker was Prof. Arne Thomas from Technical University of Berlin and he gave insights to the covalent Organic Frameworks for Catalysis and Energy Applications.
The next speaker was the former project leader of Exxonmobil Research and Development and he gave practical approaches to a carbon-neutral future through decarbonisation. The important input from SMEs was given by Biswanath Das & Sharon Berkowicz from CarbGen AB that develops valuable chemical products such as formic acid and methanol from captured CO2 by electrocatalysis. The students were represented by Maja-Stina Svanberg Frisinger from Stockholm university who develops improved aminated porous silica absorbent for CO2 capture to be used at scale. Last but not least the talk by Asso. Prof. Naser Tavajohi from Umeå University give an insight to membranes and their possible application and challenges for the green processes and sustainable future.
The workshop was attended by almost 70 guests and during the coffee breaks many connections were made. With this Stockholm Material will thank all the speakers and audience in the workshop and of course also Prof. Max Hamedi at KTH was helping with the workshop and hosting Prof. Gogotsi at the perfect moment.
